2016 Summer Olympic Womens Basketball Odds to Win Gold

The absence of a full Team Russia offers Team USA that extra edge to easily win more medals than any other country in the 2016 Summer Olympics. The aforementioned claim isn’t based on history alone. Team USA will win more medals than any other nation in Rio this summer in large part due to the overwhelming number of female athletes that the United States is sending, the largest contingent of women any country has ever traveled to an Olympic Village. Team USA will headline 292 women athletes and the troupe will dominate in Rio.

Team USA has won the medal count battle the last five summer games dating back to 1996. The USA women’s basketball squad has won four straight gold medals and in one of the most dominating runs in the history of basketball, men’s included, have not lost a competitive game in over 10 years.

The London Games, in the summer of 2012, 29 of America’s 46 gold medals were won by women. The US women simply dominated and all things being equal, a repeat of such a feat should be expected in Rio over the next few weeks.
