We’ve been spoiled over the past 20 years. Since 1997, we’ve seen Silver Charm, Real Quiet, Funny Cide, Charismatic, War Emblem, Smarty Jones, Big Brown, I’ll Have Another, and California Chrome head to the Belmont with a chance at the Triple Crown. But for the second year in a row, we’re on the cusp of having three separate winners for each race in the Triple Crown. Neither the Kentucky Derby winner (Always Dreaming) or Preakness winner (Cloud Computing) will be running in New York this weekend. At the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas, Preakness runner-up Classic Empire has opened up as a 2/1 favorite in the 2017 Belmont Stakes.

Classic Empire and Lookin at Lee (5/1) are the only two horses attempting to race in all three legs of the Triple Crown. Classic Empire finished fourth in the Kentucky Derby and got beat at the wire by Cloud Computing in the Preakness. Lookin at Lee finished second in the Derby and fourth at Pimlico. After an impressive showing at the Preakness, Senior Investment (8/1) has generated a lot of attention this week. The Lexington Stakes winner opened at 25/1 at Pimlico three weeks ago, but is down to 8/1 this week at the Belmont. Other notables in the Belmont field include Epicharis (6/1), Irish War Cry (7/1) and Tapwrit (8/1).
