The Aztecs square off against the Black Knights on December 23 at the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas. San Diego State is coming off a 10-2 season. Army will play its final regular season contest against Navy this Saturday, December, 9th. And the game against Navy offers the Black Knights a chance to earn their ninth win of the 2017 season. Armed Forces Bowl Spread: San Diego State and Army off the board.

It isn’t a secret that SDSU coach Rocky Long hoped, and verbalized, that he imagined his squad would be a part of the Foster Farm Bowl. Therefore Foster event would have allowed his staff and players more time to prep for its record eighth bowl appearance.  According to the TimesofSanDiego.com the chance for the Aztecs to take part in the Foster Farms Bowl “changed when Wisconsin lost to Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship on Saturday, dropping everyone below the Badgers in the Big Ten down a bowl notch and giving Purdue the Foster affair.”

“This promises to be an exciting matchup between two talented, well-coached team,” Armed Forces Bowl executive director Brant Ringler told the San Diego press.

The Aztecs (10-2, 6-2 Mountain West) have won back-to-back bowls. In 2015 SDSU won the Hawaii Bowl and followed that with a victory in the Las Vegas Bowl last season.

The Black Knights (8-3) are also taking part in back-to-back bowls. The school’s consecutive holiday invitations is only the second time in the program’s history they have had back-to-back invites.

Army accepted the Foster Bowl invite late October and their opponent was announced before the annual Army-Navy match in Philadelphia this weekend. Consequently the spread for the event has yet to be released. And as a result at the time this Bowl Preview went to press the WagerTalk staff will update the spread when it is officially posted.

The Armed Forces Bowl line, point-spread and total, will be updated on Saturday night after the Army-Navy game goes final.  Additionally, the Armed Forces Bowl kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET and will be held at TCU’s Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. The game will be broadcast by ESPN.
