Ole Miss host regional rival Memphis in a rematch of last years stunning upset when the Tigers and All-American quarterback Paxton Lynch defeated the Rebels 37-24.  Despite last season’s loss to Memphis, the Rebels have won 15 of the last 20 meetings between the schools and own a huge 48-11-2 edge in the all-time series.

Memphis goes into Oxford on Saturday and the Rebels will be waiting for them full of revenge for the 37-24 loss in Memphis last year. Memphis has looked real good this year but the competition hasn’t been the best and the step up in competition will prove interesting for the Tigers. Regardless of competition, it is obvious that the Tigers have a nice offense and although Junior QB Riley Ferguson is no Paxton Lynch, he has had a great year so far. He will be going up against a Rebel defense that has had troubles all year. They have had to face some tough offenses especially Alabama and Georgia but they do rank 102nd in total defense and because of this we believe the Tigers can keep this one close. Chad Kelly has been exactly what we expected from him this year and the Rebels will score their share of points today, there is no doubt about that. Here is the catch for us, the Rebels are 2-2 and heading into their bye week. How much is that revenge really going to matter as Ole Miss will be not playing in any of the Big Bowls this year. Another reason we like the underdog here is because of the carelessness of the Rebel offense. They have turned the ball over 8 times in their 4 games and those are the things that keep underdogs very live. Especially a live dog that returns 16 starters and have seen this Rebel team just last year. There will be no intimidation factor for these Tigers. Backing our selection is the fact that the Rebels are 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 non-conference games.

Free College Football Saturday Pick: Penn State at Michigan

Rose Bowl Preview and Prediction: Trojans vs. Nittany Lions

The Big 10 conference title favorites this 2016 season,  Michigan Wolverines,  looks to stay perfect when the tradition rich football franchise host “Linebacker U” Penn State in the Big Ten opener for both teams on Saturday.

Penn State heads into the big house for a conference game against the No.# 4 ranked Michigan Wolverines. Michigan has played all their games at home this year with two more before they hit the road to play Rutgers. We believe they have had things going their way so far this season and today they get a real challenge at the hand of the Nittany Lions. Michigan at first look had a easy victory against Colorado last week but a closer look you will see that the Wolverines actually had a lot of big plays to get the victory including a Jabrill Peppers 54 yd punt return for a TD.

Penn St. has had an interesting year as 2 weeks ago they allowed Pittsburgh to rush for 341 yards and then held Temple last week to 38 yards. Michigan will probably rush for somewhere in between. The big problem for Penn St. the last two weeks have been turnovers. They have had 7 in the last 2 games. If they turn it over like this to Michigan, it could be a long day. If they can keep the turnovers down they will be in this game. Also they must keep Michigan from the big plays that could open this game up. We believe, in the first Big Ten matchup for both clubs they will play a close Big Ten grind it out game, each team trying to establish the run. This will give Penn St. the easy cover considering the number of points. At the time of this writing Michigan is a 19 point favorite we think that is way too many points and we will take them.

Backing our selection is the fact that Wolverines are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games in September.

So let’s get the job done with the Penn St. Nittany Lions as your free play for Saturday.

Free AFC North Total Play: Cincinnati at Pittsburgh

Odds to Win 2019 Super Bowl: Steelers 50-1

Cincinnati’s 23-22 season-opening win the New York Jets in Week #1 was more exciting than Pittsburgh’s 38-16 drubbing of the Washington Redskins but both teams enter Week #2 with records of 1-0 and take to Heinz Field for a divisional battle.  This contest between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals may be just one game in a 17-week season but this early AFC North matchup, as the second between the two franchises, will likely decide who earns the title in January.  Both teams take Heinz Field at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday with perfect records but only one will leave 2-0.

Free College Football Pick: Buffalo Bulls vs Nevada Wolf Pack

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl Preview: Ohio vs. Nevada

The University at Buffalo Bulls have had a couple of weeks to prepare for their journey to Reno to play the Nevada Wolfpack. The Wolfpack are coming off a beating at Notre Dame losing 39-10 and we believe they are just giving too many points to the Bulls. Looking into the stats of the first two games for Nevada and we will see that they have been just brutal against the run. They allowed 239 yards rushing against Notre Dame and the week before they allowed Cal Poly Slo to run for 383 yards. When you see that kind of yards being gained the defense is not getting better anytime soon against the run. Nevada beat Cal Poly Sol by 3 but were outgained in the game by Cal Poly which is a big concern to anyone backing the Wolfpack here. The Bulls also had trouble losing to Albany. The difference they outgained the Great Danes and they had 4 TO which basically cost them the game. We see the Bulls running the ball often and eating up the clock, by doing that we believe the Reno altitude should not come into play like it so often does.

Free College Football Play: Indiana at Florida International

Purdue Boilermakers vs. Indiana Hoosiers

Free College Football Pick: from Buster Sports: The Indiana Hoosiers and the Florida International Golden Panthers start their 2016 college football season off with a game in Miami. Last year in Bloomington the Hoosiers beat FIU 36 -22 , but what a difference a year makes as it always does. The Hoosiers lost two huge pieces of their offense with Nate Sudfeld and Jordan Howard going to the NFL. The Hoosiers return only 6 starters to their offense and they will have competition at the QB position which will cause difficulty for the team early in the year. Indiana will rely heavily on their running game with Devine Redding who ran for just over 1,000 yds last yr being their main RB. The defensive returns 7 starters to what was a very porous unit last year ranking 120 th. Improvement will be necessary for this unit if the Hoosiers are going to have any success in 2016. FIU returns 9 starters to their offense, led by 3rd year QB Alex McGough. McGough threw for 283 yards in Indiana last year and we see more success at home for McGough against the Hoosiers in this years game. The defense for FIU was ranked 76th in the nation last year but they return only 4 starters which will give new DC Ron Cooper a real job to do. Overall we know that FIU will not be afraid of the boys from the BIG TEN and we believe that they will be able to put up some points against that Indiana defense. We see some nice value in taking the points with FIU. The question marks on the FIU defense and the loss of some key coaching staff at the beginning of the year keeps this from being a premium play.
