Game Preview

Texas closed out the regular season on Saturday with a 69-56 home loss to TCU. That was the
second loss in a row for the Longhorns, and the team’s fourth defeat in its last five outings. For the
season, Texas has a record of 16-15 (15-16 ATS) and a mark of 8-10 in Big Ten play.

The streak is over. Kansas had won 14 straight Big 12 regular season crowns heading into this year,
but they came up short this time around with a record of 12-6 in conference play. That left them two
games behind co-leaders Kansas State and Texas Tech. For the year, the Jayhawks are 23-8 (13-17-1
ATS).

Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns kicked off Big 12 play by winning the first two, but that was followed by a three-
game losing streak. The team just couldn’t find any consistency the rest of the way and closed things
out six games behind the conference leaders. Over the last 10 games, the team is 4-6 (7-3 ATS).
Team totals stand at 13-18 with the Under coming in for the last two. Kerwin Roach II is the team’s
leading scorer with 15.0 ppg. He has been out on suspension for violating team rules, but he’s
expected to suit up today. Jaxson Hayes contributes 10.3 ppg.

Kansas Jayhawks

The Jayhawks closed out the regular season by winning three of its last four, but that wasn’t enough
to make up for the team’s inconsistent play in the Big 12. The team is 7-3 (6-4 ATS) over its last 10
outings. Kansas split games with both Texas Tech and Kansas State during the regular season.
Totals have been Over for four of the last five and check in at 19-11-1 on the year. Dedric Lawson is
the top option on offense for Kansas. He’s averaging 19.1 ppg and 10.6 rpg. Devon Dotson is the
next option with averages of 11.7 ppg and 3.5 dimes.

Texas vs. Kansas Prediction

These two programs split two games in the regular season. Kansas picked up a 2-point win first time
out, failing to cover as 7-point home favorites, but they fell by 10 points in the rematch as 1-point
road underdogs. The Jayhawks holds a dominant 9-1 edge for the last 10 meetings. Totals are 4-5-1
over that span.

The spread is tight at 2.5 points, but Kansas is clearly the better squad on paper. We’re looking for
them to pick up the win and cover as they demonstrate they’ll have plenty to say about how the Big
12 tournament shakes out.
