College Basketball Saturday Line Report

Kentucky squares off against Tennessee in an SEC feature matchup on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats are a projected No. 1 seed if the college basketball championship were to tipoff today. A second and final regular season contest between the ‘Cats and the Volunteers is front and center to close college basketball Saturday and Kentucky will have to find a way to overcome the loss of upperclassman Reid Travis. College Basketball Saturday Line Report: Mad March is here!.

Kentucky was dominant in the first game but without Travis’ scoring and beef in the paint Kentucky will have to be at their best defensively. In addition the first meet between the two SEC foes UK limited Vols; Grant Williams to four shots from the field. In particular Travis was a big part of containing the Tennessee All-Everything forward. Furthermore it isn’t unreasonable to state that Travis is one of the few players in the conference who can legitimately body up with Williams’ physicality.

SEC pundits will argue that both of these SEC squads are No. 1 seeds for the Big Dance. However don’t think for a second that this game doesn’t hold significant weight with the selection committee who meet a week for Sunday. Coach Cal’s young Kentucky troupe is doing what most Wildcat teams do in February and early March and that is improve. Rick Barnes’ boys have a number of quality wins as well as quality losses, e.g. Kentucky, LSU and Kansas.

Can Kentucky keep Tennessee from scoring in the paint without Travis? Are the Vols coached-up enough to overcome a technically sound Wildcats defense and validate their national championship chip with a win on Thompson-Boling court?
