Always Dreaming

• Absolutely got the perfect trip in the Derby

• Broke 2nd from the gate and got to the rail immediately sitting just on the inside of the front-runner State of Honor

• At the half edged to the 2 path so he would have a clear shot when he made his move

• Once State of Honor packed it in Always Dreaming inherited the lead and more importantly was back at the rail

• Battled Irish War Cry and Battle of Midway briefly before opening up

• Held off the hard charging Looking at Lee

Looking at Lee

• Got the 2nd Best trip in the Derby

• Was out of it early running in 17th place well off the pace

• Never had to leave the rail the entire race traveling the shortest distance

• Once Looking at Lee started his move he had clearing sailing never once having to check his horse

Preakness Predictions

Classic Empire

• Troubled trip throughout the Kentucky Derby

• Was slammed at the start of the Race when the horses from the auxiliary Gate come down from the outside causing McCracken and Classic Empire to bounce into each other

• Classic Empire got away 13th from the gate much farther back that he usually likes to race

• Classic Empire was putting in a 5 wide bid off the far and was once interfered with as a chain reaction of horses bumping coming into the stretch as Practical Joke drifted wide causing several horses to briefly alter their course
• Classic Empire did what great horses do and that was re-gather himself and go on where as most horses who get their momentum stop especially a second time would just flatten out

• Classic Empire drove on to be 4th on the outside where the horses looked like they were running in quick sand

Gunnevera

• Another horse who was bothered at the start and taken back to 14th

• Was also starting a move coming out of the final turn 5 wide but was involved in the chain reaction when Practical Joke veered out but unlike Classic Empire didn’t regain himself and run on

Conquest Mo Money

• The Steam Horse, The New Shooter the horse that had enough points to race in the Kentucky Derby but passed as they weren’t nominated to the Derby so would have had to pay the supplemental fee to enter. Opted instead for the Preakness

• There has only been 3 horses in the last 30 years to win the Preakness that did not race in the Kentucky Derby

• Just 5 starts all of which was at 3 another reason that may have led the connections to pass on the Derby as no horse since Apollo in 1882 had won the Derby without racing at 2

• Has been 1st or 2nd in all 5 lifetime starts including a very game effort finishing 2nd to Classic Empire in the Arkansas Derby

• Racing style will have him on the lead or sitting 2nd with Always Dreaming

Cloud Computing

• Very lightly raced horse with just 3 lifetime starts all coming as a 3 year old

• Was no match for Irish War Cry in the Wood Memorial finishing a distant 3rd and we saw Irish War Cry come up empty finishing a disappointing 10th after making at run at the top of stretch in the Derby

• Having just 3 races under his belt always has the chance to make a big jump forward but it would take a really big jump to catch up to where these horses already are

• One interesting note is the fact that JJ Castellano has chosen to ride Cloud Computing over Gunnevera usually a big indicator to trust the jockey as to who is better but this may be more of him choosing the trainer rather than the horse

• Chad Brown has a bigger and more powerful stable compared to Antonio Sano the trainer of Gunnevera

Hence

• Broke away poorly at start getting away 18th

• Started a move at the 5/16ths when he swung wide but had to be steadied with traffic problems and never showed anymore from that point on as he flattened out in the stretch

Multiplier

• Didn’t race as a 2 year old

• 4 Lifetime Starts and improved in every start finishing 3rd, 2nd, 1st and 1st. his Beyer number improved in all 4 starts as well

• Won the Grade 3 Illinois Derby last time out but those horses weren’t a strong group

• Big jockey change with upgrade to Joel Rosario

Term of Art

• In over his head here 4 starts this year with best finish being a distant 3rd in the San Felipe

• 9 lifetime starts and only one time did he top a 90 Beyer speed rating

• Would need to make a huge jump but with 9 lifetime starts he is what he is

• Look elsewhere

Senior Investment

• Coming off a win in the Grade 3 Lexington Stakes but the competition wasn’t what we have here

• Posted a career high 89 Beyer in last race which is way below what will be needed to win this race

• Has improved his Beyer figure in 6 straight races

• Stone cold closer who will be coming from last or next to last
