Boxing Betting Update Including GGG vs. Wade

Every boxing fan’s favorite words: “…Yea, but who has he fought?” In the case of Gennady Golovkin, the answer is “nobody”, but the blame does not fall on his shoulders. Billed as one of the greatest knockout artists of this generation, Golovkin hasn’t been able to coax any of the top middleweights into the ring with him. Canelo Alvarez decided to fight Amir Khan in May instead of Golovkin, and England’s Billy Joe Saunders had no interest in unifying middleweight titles. Left with no other available opponents, the 34 year-old from Kazakhstan will fight Maryland’s Dominic Wade as a -15000 favorite on Saturday night.

When: Saturday, April 23 2016. Coverage Starts at 10 p.m. ET
Where: The Forum in Inglewood, California
Watch: HBO

Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs) has knocked out each of the his last 21 opponents. He owns the highest knockout percentage in middleweight title history at 91-percent and has not been taken to the final bell since June 2008 (Courtesy ESPN). Twenty-five year-old Wade (18-0, 12 KOs) had a very successful amateur career, but his only professional win with any national merit came against 41 year-old former title holder Sam Soliman via split decision. In the co-main event, Roman Gonzalez (44-0, 38 KOs) of Nicaragua will defend the flyweight championship against Puerto Rican McWilliams Arroyo (16-2, 14 KOs).
