The German Bundesliga is coming back after the winter break, and the first match will be played on Friday when Hoffenheim will host Bayern Munich. Hoffenheim will be looking to improve after a really bad run before the winter break. But they are up against a Bayern Munich side who have been really great before the break but not as good throughout the season so far.

Date/Time: 1-18-2019, 14:30 EST

Spread: Hoffenheim +1

Total: 3.25 Goals

Hoffenheim (6-4-7) are a really solid side in the Bundesliga and have been really improving over the past few years. This season they were caught up in Champions League duties and that has affected their overall performance this season. They eventually finished last in that group and are now free to focus on the Bundesliga, where they are sitting 7th with 25 points. They are just two points behind the top-six spots that grant entrance to the European competitions next season and that’s their main goal. In their last match they were held to a really frustrating 1-1 draw at home against Mainz, which was their third consecutive in all competitions and sixth in a row in the Bundesliga. Hoffenheim are now win-less in their last eight matches in all competitions (0-2-6) with seven of those matches featuring goals from both sides. They have been really hard to beat at home (3-2-4), but are win-less in their last four there (0-1-3). Moreover, there have been goals from both sides in 10 of their 12 home matches in all competitions so far.

On the other hand, Bayern Munich (11-3-3) have not been very steady in the Bundesliga so far in the season and that is why they are not at the top. However, they have been really improving lately and managed to enter the winter break in some really top form. In their last match before the break they blasted Frankfurt by an easy 3-0 on the road. That was their third consecutive win and sixth in their last seven, as they are now undefeated in eight consecutive (6-0-2). Bayern Munich are still sitting at the 2nd spot of the Bundesliga with 36 points, six behind league leaders Borussia Dortmund. The Bavarian team have the best away record in the league (7-2-0), having scored 21 goals so far and having conceded just eight in the process. They have only failed to score in one of their 14 away matches in all competitions, but have scored twice in 12 of them.

Bayern Munich had it easy in the first round when they beat Hoffenheim by 1-3 at home. But last season the two teams exchanged home wins, a 0-2 Hoffenheim win here before a massive 2-5 loss in Munich. Hoffenheim have actually won each of the last two here against Bayern Munich but those are their only wins in this venue (2-5-3).

Bayern Munich will most likely not be affected by the winter break, which should have worked wonders for a fatigued Hoffenheim side. This is not a very easy match for Bayern Munich, but even if they do concede they should be able to win this one. In any case, I will take the Over 3.25 Goals here.
