This is surely going to be the match to watch on Tuesday, as Premier League powerhouse Manchester United will play host to French giants Paris Saint Germain. This is the first leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League, and this is most likely going to be a goal-fest between the two teams. Manchester United have been in great shape lately and will surely prove to be quite a hard nut to crack against a seemingly better Paris Saint Germain side.

Date/Time: 2-12-2019, 15:00 EST

Spread: Paris Saint Germain +0.25

Total: 2.75 Goals

Manchester United are coming into this stage of the competition for the 11th time in their history, having won six times and losing four in the process. A loss in the same round against Sevilla last season put an end to their 21-match undefeated streak at home (17-0-4) since a loss against Real Madrid. Those two losses mean that Manchester United have lost two of their last three home games in this round of the competition, with their overall record at home standing at 6-3-1. Manchester United also failed to win their first two home matches this season, a draw against Valencia and a loss against Juventus. Despite a loss against Valencia in the final match-day of the group stage, Manchester United have been excellent in their last 26 European matches, home or away (16-5-5). The Red Devils have won six of their seven two-legged knock-out ties against teams from France and are undefeated in their last eight matches (6-0-2). Most importantly, they have never lost at home to Ligue 1 sides (10-0-3).

On the other hand, Paris Saint Germain reach this stage for the seventh consecutive time but are still looking to go past the semi-finals, which is their best run. After participating in the quarter-finals of the competition of four consecutive times, Paris Saint Germain have lost in this stage in each of the last two season. They have won three of their six two-legged knockout ties against English sides and most recently they did so against Chelsea on two consecutive years. Paris Saint Germain have already tasted loss in English soil this season, a tough 2-3 loss against Liverpool in the premiere of the group stage. Their win in the second round was their first success in their last six matches against English opposition (1-2-3). Despite recording wins against Liverpool and Red Star in their last two matches for the group stage, Paris Saint Germain have won just three of their last nine matches for the competition (3-4-2).

Manchester United were a totally different team when this draw was made back in December. The Red Devils had won just once in five games back then, but that was just before coach Solskjaer took over. Manchester United have been excellent ever since and will surely try to keep their undefeated streak against French teams here intact.

But coach Solskjaer’s flaw might be the lack of managing experience in this stage, but this is something that can be covered by the overall experience in the squad. Paris Saint Germain have not fared well in English soil but both teams score a ton of goals and this can easily turn into a goal-fest.
