Finn Factor MLB Daily Pitch and Free Pick: San Francisco Giants at Atlanta Braves

Looking at the overnight lines for Wednesday there is not the true value we would have liked backing Madison Bumgarner and the San Francisco Giants. The latest form of the Giants ace should have dictated a visiting money-line of closer to -150, rather than the opening -175, so throwing caution to the wind the San Fran run-line offers the only valid option. The Finn Factor MLB Daily Pitch and Free Pick features Giants LH Bumgarner vs. Braves RH Williams Perez.

Despite working five-innings plus in each of his last five starts Bumgarner has allowed six runs in two of those trips to the mound. This shouldn’t be a huge surprise considering he leads the league in innings pitched this year with 138 and is third in most individual wins with 11. The San Fran southpaw also ranks in the pitching list Top-10 in strikeouts with 139 and while the Mad Man has struggled on the road this season he is in a valued position on Wednesday facing the Atlanta offense. It is one situation where we will throw out his 6-4 away record and his 4.50 ERA compared to a 2.43 at AT&T Park.

The Braves send Perez to the mound, who is 4-1 with an ERA of 4.14 on the season. However, the 24-year-old is also coming off a tough turn. He got hit hard by the Phils, giving up nine runs in just 4.1 innings, a road loss at Philadelphia. Perez (4-1, 4.14 ERA) didn’t fare well in his return to active duty last Friday night versus the Philadelphia Phillies. Perez allowed nine runs on nine hits while walking four and striking out just three in just 4.1 innings of work, a 9-3 loss to the Fighting Phils. Perez was making his first start back after missing a month with a left foot contusion his command was atrocious. While his surface numbers were solid before his stay on the DL there were warning signs when you looked closer at his underlying peripherals. He faces off again Bumgarner in an event that will pit the Giants lefty against a Braves offense that struggles against quality left-handers.
