Game Preview

On Saturday, Butler traveled to Providence and took the floor as 2-point underdogs. The Friars easily
covered in an 83-70 win. For the season, the Bulldogs are 16-15 (12-19 ATS). The team struggled in
conference play this season with a record of just 7-11.

The Friars have a matching 7-11 mark in Big East play. For the season, Providence checks in at 17-
14 (14-17 ATS). The team closed out the regular season playing fairly well by winning three of its
last five. That span includes a pair of victories over Butler.

Butler Bulldogs

Butler was decent in non-conference play this season. Before the calendar turned to 2019, Butler
stood at 9-4. A pair of three-game losing streaks in conference play left them tied for the basement in
the Big East when all was said and done. For the last 10 games, the team is 4-6 (3-7 ATS).
Totals stand at 15-15-1 for the season with the Over coming in for five of the last seven. Kamar
Baldwin tops the team in both scoring and rebounding. He averages 17.5 ppg and 5.0 rpg. Paul
Jorgensen contributes 11.8 ppg, while Sean McDermott adds in 9.7 ppg.

Providence Friars

It was a similar story for Providence this year. The team entered conference play with a record of 10-
3, but two three-game losing streaks destined the team to also-ran status in the conference. Over their
last 10, the Friars are 4-6 (4-6 ATS).

Team totals are 14-16-1 for the year with the Over coming in for the last three in a row. Alpha Diallo
leads the way in all of the major statistical categories for Providence. He’s averaging 16.1 ppg, 8.2
boards, and 3.1 apg. Nate Watson adds in 11.7 ppg, and A.J. Reeves chips in with 10.7 ppg.

Butler vs. Providence Prediction

Providence won both meetings of these two programs in the regular season and has won four of the
last five versus Butler. Over the last 10 meetings, the Friars have a 7-3 advantage. Totals are 4-5-1
over that span.

Despite Providence winning both matchups in the regular season, these two clubs are evenly
matched. Butler gets the nod on offense, while the Friars are the stronger defensive squad. The
Bulldogs are the slightly better shooting team, and we’ll look for that to be the difference in a close
neutral-site affair.

Butler Bulldogs vs. Providence Friars Pick: Butler Bulldogs -1 (-110)
