Spread: St. John’s Red Storm -5 (-110)
DePaul closed out the regular season on the road at Creighton on Saturday. They were 7.5-point
underdogs at tip-off, and they wound up being smoked by the Bluejays to the tune of 91-78. For the
season, the Blue Demons are 15-14 (14-14-1 ATS) and 7-11 versus conference rivals.
The Red Storm were slightly better in Big East play at 8-10. Interestingly, they were 3-1 versus
conference heavyweights Villanova and Marquette during the regular season. St. John’s has an
overall record of 20-11 (13-17-1 ATS).
DePaul Blue Demons
The Blue Demons closed out the regular season by winning two of their last three, but that came on
the heels of a four-game losing streak. Over their last 10 outings, the team is 4-6 (4-6 ATS). They
squared off with St. John’s twice in the regular season, winning them both.
Totals are 16-12-1 for the season with the Over coming in for the last three. Max Strus is the top
scoring option for DePaul. He’s averaging 19.0 ppg and 6.1 boards. Femi Olujobi is next up with
13.3 ppg, while Eli Cain adds in 12.9 ppg.
St. John’s Red Storm
The Red Storm struggled at the end of the regular season with three straight losses. One of those
losses came on the road at DePaul, the team’s second loss to the Blue Demons for the year. For the
last 10 games, St. John’s is 4-6 (4-6 ATS).
The Over has come in for the last three games while totals stand at 15-14-1 for the year. Shamorie
Ponds is the biggest offensive threat for the Red Storm. He averages 19.8 ppg and 5.2 dimes.
Mustapha Heron chips in with 15.0 ppg, while LJ Figueroa averages 14.6 ppg and 6.3 rpg.
DePaul vs. St. John’s Prediction
DePaul was the underdog in both of the regular season meetings. Back in January, they were 6.5-
point road dogs, but they picked up a 79-71 win. St.John’s was a 2.5-point road favorite for the
rematch in February, but the Blue Demons secured a 92-83 victory. The teams are tied at 5-5 for the
last 10 meetings with totals checking in at 7-3 over that span.
Despite losing twice to DePaul this season, St.John’s is a 5-point favorite tonight in what is
essentially a home game. We like them to get the job done and advance to round two of the Big East
