College Basketball Preview and Free Pick: Indiana vs. Iowa
It’s a light Friday night of college basketball action and just two nationally ranked teams will be on
the floor. One of them plays host for the last game of the evening to tip-off. The struggling Indiana
Hoosiers hit the road to take on the #21 Iowa Hawkeyes in a meeting of Big Ten rivals.
Date/Time/TV: Fri. Feb.22, 9:00 PM EST, FS1
Spread: Iowa Hawkeyes -7 (-110)
The Hoosiers have struggled mightily in conference play this season with a record of just 4-11 so far.
Overall, Indiana is 13-13 (9-16 ATS) and in 12th place in the conference. They had a home date with
#15 purdue on Tuesday, and they walked off the court on the wrong side of a 48-46 decision.
The Hawkeyes were also in action on Tuesday, dropping a 1-point home heartbreaker to #24
Maryland. The team is 9-6 in Big Ten play, 3.5 games behind co-leaders Michigan and Michigan
State. For the season, Iowa checks in at 20-6 (12-14 ATS).
Indiana is a dreadful 1-9 (2-8 ATS) over the last 10. The lone win over that span was a 79-75 road
OT victory over Michigan State. The team has had serious problems on the road this season. To date,
Indiana is 2-8 (3-7 ATS).
Team totals have been Under for two of the last three and stand at 9-16 for the year. Romeo Langford
tops the team with 17.1 ppg. He’s questionable tonight with an illness. Juwan Morgan is the next
biggest threat for the Hoosiers. He’s averaging 15.1 ppg and 8.2 boards.
Iowa is 7-3 (5-5) for the last 10 and pretty stout at home with a mark of 13-3 (6-10 ATS) thus far.
However, the Hawkeyes are just 2-2 in recent home games. They have faced off with eight ranked
teams thus far, going 4-4.
Team totals have been Under for three of the last five and lean towards the middle on the year at 12-
14. Tyler Cook is the top option on offense. He’s averaging 15.9 ppg and 8.0 boards. Luke Garza
adds in 13.1 ppg, while Jordan Bohannon and Joe Wieskamp chip in with 11.5 and 11.4 ppg
Indiana vs. Iowa Prediction
Indiana has won three of the last five meetings of these two programs, and they hold a 7-3 edge over
the last 10. Totals are also 7-3 over that span. They hooked up earlier this month on the Hoosiers
home court. Iowa exited the building with a 77-72 win as 2.5-point underdogs.
Iowa is a big 7-point home favorite this time around, and it’s not too tough to see why. They’re the
better squad on paper and simply have much more depth than the visitors. We’ll take the hosts to
pick up a big win and cover.
