Spread: Louisville Cardinals -7.5 (-110)
The Fighting Irish survived their first-round matchup with Georgia Tech yesterday. They entered the
game as 1.5-point favorites, and they managed to walk off the floor with a 78-71 win. For the season,
Notre Dame is 14-18 (13-19 ATS) and a disappointing 3-15 in ACC play.
The Cardinals fared better in conference this season with a mark of 10-8, but the team’s overall
record of 19-12 (16-13-2 ATS) was a bit on the disappointing side. The team closed out the regular
season with a 73-68 road defeat at Virginia.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Notre Dame’s finish to the regular season left a lot to be desired as well as the team dropped its last
seven games. Over the last 10, the Fighting Irish are just 2-8 (5-5 ATS). These two squads hooked up
in Louisville back on March 3 with the Cardinals picking up a 75-61 win as 8.5-point favorites.
Team totals have been Under for five of the last six and trend that way on the year at 12-20. John
Mooney is the top option in the offense for Notre Dame. He’s averaging 14.3 ppg and 11.2 boards,
but he dropped a line of 20/10 on the Yellow Jackets yesterday. TJ Gibbs contributes 13.2 ppg, while
D.J. Harvey adds in 10.7 ppg.
For a microcosm of Louisville’s regular season, we need to look no further than how the team fared
versus ranked conference foes. The team was 3-5 versus ACC powerhouses, dropping its last four of
those games. Over the last 10 games overall, the team is 3-7 (4-6 ATS).
Totals have been Under for six of the last seven and check in at 13-18 on the year. Jordan Nwora is
the main offensive threat for Louisville. He brings averages of 17.3 ppg and 7.7 rpg to the table.
Dwayne Sutton is next up with 10.3 ppg and 6.9 boards. Christen Cunningham contributes 10.1 ppg
and 4.9 apg.
Notre Dame vs. Louisville Prediction
Louisville is riding a three-game winning streak over Notre Dame. They also hold a 6-4 edge over
the last 10 meetings. Totals are 5-5 over that span. The Cardinals are the more talented squad and get
the nod on both offense and defense. While the spread is a little on the hefty side, it’s time for the
club to make a statement and bolster its case for an invite to the dance.
