Date/Time/TV: Mon. Feb.18, 7:00 PM EST, ESPN
Spread: Virginia Cavaliers -6 (-110)
Since falling by 10 points at home to Duke on February 9, the Cavaliers have won two in a row.
They were last in action on Saturday, picking up a 6-point home win over Notre Dame. For the
season, Virginia is 22-2 (17-7 ATS).
The Hokies have also won two in a row, which came on the heels of the club dropping two straight.
The team also took the court on Saturday, walking away with a 70-64 road win over Pitt. Virginia
Tech is 20-5 (12-11-1 ATS) this year.
Virginia is just a game behind Duke for the ACC lead with a conference record of 10-2. Both of
those losses have come at the hands of the Blue Devils. The team is a solid 7-1 (7-1 ATS) on the road
thus far, and checks in at 8-2 (6-4 ATS) over the last 10.
Team totals trend towards the low side at 10-14 for the year. The Under has come in for four of the
last five. Kyle Guy leads the way for the Cavaliers with 15.1 ppg and 4.3 rpg. De’Andre Hunter is
right behind him with averages of 15.0 ppf and 5.5 boards. Ty Jerome chips in with 13.0 ppg and 5.1
Virginia Tech Hokies
Virginia Tech has a mark of 9-4 in conference play, leaving them 2.5 games behind conference
leader Duke. The team has been solid at home with a mark of 12-1 (6-6-1 ATS) thus far. For the last
10, the Hokies are 6-4 (3-6-1 ATS).
Team totals are in the middle at 12-11-1. The Over has been the correct call for four of the last six.
Nickeil Alexander-Webster is the top option in the offense with 16.9 ppg and 4.0 boards. Second
leading scorer Justin Robinson is out with an ankle injury. Kerry Blackshear Jr. contributes 14.0 ppg
and 6.7 boards.
Virginia vs. Virginia Tech Prediction
These two squads hooked up last month on Virginia’s home court. The Cavaliers dominated to the
tune of an 81-59 final score, easily covering as 7.5-point favorites. For the last 10 meetings, Virginia
is 7-3 with the Under coming in for six of those meetings.
Virginia is installed as a 6-point road favorite for this one, and that looks a little too generous in our
eyes. Virginia Tech is solid at home, and the disparity between these two clubs is not as stark as the
result from the last meeting suggests. We’ll take the hosts to cover, and an outright upset wouldn’t
stun us either.
