Texas and Texas Tech play their second of two regular season Big 12 conference contests tonight. Texas Tech aims to remain in a tie for the Big 12 regular-season championship and record an eighth-straight victory. The Texas Longhorns have a number of Quadrant I victories to be an at-large member of March’s college basketball national championship tournament.
Across the last three games sophomore guard Jase Febres has found his mojo in place of suspended leading scorer Kerwin Roach II (15.0). Febres has averaged 21.3 points following a career-high 26 in Saturday’s victory over a good Iowa State squad. In addition freshman guard Courtney Ramey has also been a factor in the ‘Horns scoring since Roach II has been inactive. Ramey has averaged 15.3 points the last three games.
Sophomore guards Jarrett Culver (17.9) and Davide Moretti (11.3 ppg) have combined with senior forward Tariq Owen (8.9) to lead the Raiders to seven straight wins. The Red Raiders rank as one of the Division I leaders in scoring defense (58.4) and opponents field-goal percentage against (36.7).
