After an exciting regular season full of surprises and a series of Conference Championship Games, we will now get to see the top 4 teams in the nation go head to head in the college football playoffs. This is perhaps the first time that there can be no real arguments about the 4 teams getting set to battle it out, as they were far and away the best teams in college football this season. After all, 3 of the 4 are coming into the playoffs having gone unbeaten, whole the other, the Oklahoma Sooners, lost just once. The Sooners will take on LSU earlier in the day on Saturday, while primetime is reserved for the defending National Champion Clemson Tigers going head to head against the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Clemson Tigers have a wealth of playoff experience at their disposal, including a lot of players who hoisted the championship trophy last season. The Buckeyes were one of the most explosive offensive teams in the country this season, so we can perhaps expect to see some fireworks here. It is Clemson who are in as a 2 ½ point favorite, with the point total set at 62 ½.

Why bet on the Clemson Tigers
It’s a little strange that the defending champions are perhaps not being given the credit that they are due. Part of the problem is that they play in a conference where they are the best team by a country mile, so losing a game in the ACC would be considered an absolute disaster. It is perhaps the early INT issues experienced by Trevor Lawrence that have some folks dismissing the Tigers, but those people have obviously not been watching this team coming down the stretch. Over the course of the last 8 games this season, the Clemson Tigers covered the spread 7 times. In previous meetings with Ohio State, the Tigers are 2-0 SU and ATS. This team can put up points with the best of them, so no surprise that they have seen 4 of their last 6 games go OVER.
Why bet on the Ohio State Buckeyes
Had it not been for the brilliance of Joe Burrow of the LSU Tigers this season, we may have been looking at Justin Fields as the Heisman winner. The QB, who the Buckeyes nabbed from Georgia in the transfer portal, has been outstanding and has helped lead his team to an unbeaten season and a staggering 48 PPG. That is just 2 PPG more than Clemson, but when you consider the quality of opponents that the Buckeyes needed to get past in the Big Ten, that number is truly amazing. Ohio State has gone 9-3 ATS in their last 2 games overall, but they have not been a great bet against the spread when playing teams from the ACC, going 1-4 ATS in the last 5.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
This should be an incredibly entertaining game to watch, as I expect that we are about to see a pair of heavyweights go toe to toe in an absolute slugfest. I have a feeling that it’s going to be the Buckeyes who eke out the win in a thriller.
