College Football Week 4 Free Pick: Ducks vs Cardinals

The early release affairs and lines for the 2018 College Football Games of the Year events from South Point of Las Vegas have been updated. The first big Saturday of the season, September 8, 2018, offers up four events. Georgia squares off against South Carolina, intrastate rivals Iowa State and Iowa tangle, as well Penn State and Pittsburgh battle for Pennsylvania bragging rights and on the left-coast USC and Stanford take to the Pac-12 gridiron. College Football Games of the Year (Updated June 26).

The Pac-12 is in its usual summer preseason position, fighting for national respect. The unsuccessful close to the 2017 college football campaign extends questions for the league entering 2018.

Two of the schools forecast to be fighting for a Pac-12 title, USC and Washington, lost New Year’s Day Six games. This after the league and the fan base argued that a conference representative should have been a part of the College Football Playoff. It was the second time in the new college format, four seasons, that no Pac-12 school had taken part in the championship tournament.

The Pac-12 finished 1-8 in bowl games, with one of its new members, the Utah Utes, providing the only holiday victory.

The most likely to earn a Pac-12 title in 2018, according to most college football portals, is Heisman Trophy finalist Bryce Love and the Stanford Cardinals, as well, the Washington Huskies and All American quarterback Jake Browning.

And consistency continues to be an issue for a conference which has five new head coaches.

The five new Pac-12 head coaches are as follows:

1. Former Oregon head coach Chip Kelly is now at UCLA.
2. Former ESPN analyst and NFL head coach Herm Edwards leads Arizona State.
3. Mario Cristobal is the new bench boss at Oregon. The third head coach for the Ducks in three seasons.
4. Jonathan Smith takes over the coaching duties at Oregon State
5. Kevin Sumlin replaces Rich Rodriguez in Tucson, as head man for the Arizona Wildcats.
