Eastern Washington vs. Washington Preview

The Eagles had a stellar regular season which culminated with a trip to the FCS Championship Game. They fell by a score of 38-24, but a final record of 12-3 is nothing to sneeze at. One of the losses came on the road at Washington State as they fell by a score of 59-24.

The Huskies bounced back from a season-opening loss to Auburn by winning nine of the next 11 games. The team advanced the Pac-12 title game versus Utah, prevailing by a score of 10-3 to bring the record to 10-3 (4-9 ATS). They squared off with Ohio State in the Rose Bowl, dropping a 28-23 decision.

Eastern Washington Eagles

Aaron Best is back for his 3rd year at Eastern Washington. The record stands at 19-7 thus far. The Eagles scored 43.1 ppg a season ago and allowed 22.7, which ranked 4th and 27th respectively in the FCS.

Nine starters return to a team which made it to the FCS title game in 2018. As the stats indicate, there’s talent to be found on both sides of the ball. The offensive line is one of the best in FCS, and the same can be said for starting QB Eric Barriere.

Washington Huskies

Chris Petersen is back for his 6th year at the helm. He’s 47-21 overall and 30-15 in conference during his tenure with the Huskies. Bush Hamdan leads the offense, while Pete Kwiatkowski and Jimmy Lake oversee the defense.

Georgia transfer Jacob Eason is the new starting QB, and optimism is high that he’ll fit right in. He’ll benefit from an experienced offensive line and a talented supporting cast. There’s has been a good amount of attrition on defense, but the unit is expected to be stout again. Washington scored 26.4 ppg last year, 89th in the nation, and allowed 15.5 ppg, which ranked 5th.

Eastern Washington vs. Washington Prediction

Washington wins the game, but Eastern Washington isn’t exactly a pushover. The FCS power should be jacked up for this one, and we expect them to keep it interesting for at least a little while. We’ll take the Eagles plus the points.

Eastern Washington Eagles vs. Washington Huskies Pick: Eastern Washington +21 (-110)
