The Dean & Deluca Invitational (formally the Crowne Plaza Invitational) is played at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. Although the name of the event changed, the venue at which it is played has not. Colonial is a 7,204 yard Par 70 where Accuracy and ball striking are very important. Bombers are not completely counted out at this venue, but they will have to be able to hit some greens from the rough. This week we will be looking at a combination of accurate players along with players who play well here. Course history seems to carry more weight at Colonial than most other courses. Here are a few plays that will hopefully get us back on track.
Dean and Deluca Invitational Picks:
Chez Reavie -120 vs. Kevin Kisner
Chez Reavie’s stats really fit this course well. It has been a few years since he has played Colonial, but he had good finishes when he did play it. Coming off a good performance last week at the Byron Nelson, I think Reavie will continue his good run this week in Texas. Kisner’s game fits this course, but his form has not been good. I look to fade him again this week.
Bryce Molder -115 vs. Harris English
Molder has been playing very good golf of late, and his game fits this course well. He also has a pretty good history at Colonial on top of that. Harris English is a solid golfer who has been off and on this season. I wouldn’t look to fade all of his matchups this week, but I feel that Molder is a good play.
Jerry Kelly -120 vs. Anirban Lahiri
Jerry Kelly is another accurate player who fits this course very well. He has a ton of experience at Colonial and has many solid finishes here. Lahiri has not yet played this event. He has been a consistent cut maker lately but has not seemed to finish well after making the cut. I will take Kelly this week.
Jon Curran -120 vs. Martin Laird
Curran finished well at Colonial last year, and he has the stats for this course. He has also been playing very consistent. Martin Laird has not been in the best of form lately, and I expect this to continue.
Kevin Na +110 vs. Chris Kirk
Colt Knost -115 vs. Jimmy Walker
Jim Furyk -115 vs. Ryan Palmer
