The English Premier League has only just restarted, but we are already close to the title race being over. Of course, that was the case even before the lockdown began, as Liverpool have been the dominant team in the league since the opening week of the season. They really only need 4-6 points from their remaining 8 games to close things out, and perhaps not even that much if Manchester City stumble at all over their next couple of games. If nothing else, it is great to see the season return so that Liverpool could have the opportunity to win the title without having the asterisk that would have been beside their name had the season been canceled and the title handed to them. For now, the final few weeks of the season are all about the European spots and relegation, two very different, yet equally important, battles. Modern football is all about money, which is why both of those races are so crucial. Manchester City are still waiting to see if their 2-year European ban will be upheld by UEFA, but for now, they just need to keep playing. They will do that on Thursday when they head to London to face Chelsea. City are slight favorites on the road, with the goal total for this one set at 3.

Why bet on Chelsea
For Chelsea, the final few weeks of the season are all about securing a Champions League place next season. Given that they had a signing ban placed on them, you would have to say that landing in the top 4 would be a very solid achievement in Frank Lampard’s first season as manager. Ironically enough, they might just benefit from the Manchester City ban if it is upheld, as the top 5 spots would then likely become UCL places. There are no guarantees of that, though, so Chelsea still need to pick up points to keep Manchester United and the rest of the chasing pack at bay. Chelsea are coming off a scrappy 2-1 win over Aston Villa in their last outing and are now 5 points clear in 4th. At home this season, they are 7-3-5, scoring 22 goals and surrendering 15.
Why bet on Manchester City
This is a rather odd time for Manchester City, as they are playing out this season in a state of limbo as they wait to hear back from UEFA about their appeal. You have to respect their professionalism, though, as they have looked very good indeed in the 2 games they have played since the season restarted. They beat Arsenal 3-0 to get the ball rolling, and then followed that up with a 5-0 win over Burnley, a score that we accurately predicted right here. This one should be a little tougher, though. City took the earlier meeting this season with Chelsea by a score of 2-1. They have been great on the road, going 9-1-5, scoring 35 and surrendering 19.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
This is going to be the third game in a short period of time for Manchester City, who have some injury issues to deal with. Despite all that, I still think that they come up with the win.
