It has been a frantic few days since the return of the English Premier League, but we are only just getting started. We always knew that the action was going to come thick and fast, with the EPL trying to squeeze in the remainder of the season as quickly as possible after a layoff that extended beyond 100 days. What we are finding is that some teams are adapting better than others to the new normal, which includes playing behind closed doors with no fans in attendance. The advantage that home teams usually possess no longer really applies in the absence of fans, which is allowing road teams a better shot at picking up points. I’m not so sure that any of that will apply on Monday afternoon when Burnley goes on the road to face Manchester City. The visitors are in a comfortable spot in the middle of the table, but their past record against City suggests that they could be in for a long afternoon on Monday. With that in mind, it is perhaps no real surprise that Manchester City come into this one favored by 2 ½, with the goal total set at 3 ½.

Why bet on Manchester City
This will be the second game back from the layoff for Manchester City, who took little time to get back into stride. City opened their account in Project Restart with a very comfortable 3-0 win over Arsenal in a game that they basically strolled through. The reality was that the score could have been a whole lot more painful for the Gunners were it not for a fantastic performance from their goalkeeper. City have dominated this matchup over the last couple of seasons, outscoring Burnley 15-1 in their last 4 meetings, which includes a 4-1 win over them earlier this season. Manchester City have gone 10-2-2 at home this season, scoring 36 goals and surrendering just 12. It’s hard to see them not winning this one as easily as they won their first game back.
Why bet on Burnley
Burnley come into this match knowing that they are more than likely going to end the season close to where they are currently sitting in the league table. They are well clear of the relegation zone, and while they are a mere 7 points back of the Europa League place that comes with finishing 5th, it would be a very brave person who bet on Burnley to close that gap. All of that makes you wonder just how motivated they might be to come back and close out this season. This will be their first game back, so they may also have a level of rust that City don’t have after playing one game already. On the road this season, Burnley are 4-4-6, scoring 14 and surrendering 21.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
This has all the makings of a rather lopsided affair, especially when you consider just how dominant City have been against Burnley over the past couple of seasons. I am taking Manchester City to cover, and I also like the OVER.
