Arsenal lost in the first leg of the Europa League round of 32 but overturned it in the second leg. They are now through to the next round but have not been very stable lately. They will now return to domestic duties, a they will host Southampton on Sunday. Southampton are not having a great season so far but have been quite competitive lately.

Arsenal (15-6-5) were bad in the first leg of the Europa League round of 32 and lost to BATE by 0-1 on the road. But they were really professional in the second leg at home, winning by an easy 0-3. In their previous league match the Gunners had a slightly easy job on the road against Huddersfield, winning by 2-1. But Arsenal have not been in the best of shapes lately, going from win to loss to win again in each of their last nine matches in all competitions (5-4-0). They are now 5th in the Premier League with 50 points, along with Chelsea who are below them. Both teams are just one point behind Manchester United and eleven points ahead of Wolves. Arsenal have been really strong at home this season (10-1-2) and have won five of their last six matches in all competitions there.
Southampton (5-12-9) met a really bad 2-1 loss at home against Cardiff in their last match. They were much better than their opponents throughout the whole match but they were unable to take anything. Their opponents took the lead at the 68th minute but Southampton pulled even at the stoppage time. Even so, they conceded another goal to eventually lose by 2-1. Southampton might have not won any of their last three, but they have lost just once in their last eight (2-1-5). They are now sitting at the 18th spot of the league table with 24 points, one below the relegation zone. On the road they have been pretty bad, winning just three of their 13 matches so far (3-7-3). However, they haven’t lost any of their last five away matches in all competitions (2-0-3).
Southampton actually beat Arsenal by 2-3 at home in the first round of the season. Last season it was Arsenal who held out for a 1-1 draw on the road before a nice 2-3 win in this venue. Arsenal have been great in this match-up lately, losing just once in the last five (3-1-1).
The Gunners have also been great as hosts against Southampton over the years (10-2-4). They have lost just once in the last five matches here (3-1-1) and have also been great this season. The visitors have also been competitive lately but I will go with Arsenal on this one.
