Sheffield United Vs Wolves Preview & Pick

There is a rather interesting situation taking shape at the top of the English Premier League. We are all already aware that Liverpool have run away with and claimed the title, but the race for European places is still very much on. Teams that looked to be out of it are suddenly putting together a run of form during this condensed schedule, which is going to make for an exciting run in to the end of the season. Further muddying the waters is the Manchester City situation, which may mean that the team who finishes in 6th might just land a Europa League spot if UEFA decides to uphold the 2-year ban that they handed out to City earlier in the year. If that is indeed how things end up playing out, then this game could very well prove to be huge for both of these teams. Wolves are in the Europa League discussion and could well benefit from a City ban, but Sheffield United are not far off the pace and could get right into things with a win here. The bookies have this one in as a PK play, with the goal total set at 2.

Why bet on Sheffield United

When a team gains promotion from the Championship, it usually means a season of struggle in the Premier League. Sheffield United were among the favorites to make the drop this season, but as it stands now, they are just 4 points back of a Wolves team battling for a Europa League spot. If the Blades can come out and pick up a win here, they could very well start to think about a European spot for next season. They come into this one on the heels of a 1-1 tie with Burnley over the weekend, with that point picked up on the road. Things have certainly gone well for Sheffield United in their own building this season, as they come into this one with an 8-3-5 home record, scoring 20 and giving up 14.

Why bet on Wolves

Wolves had done a very nice job of quietly working their way into the top 5, which had them in the Europa League spot, but a 2-0 loss to Arsenal combined with a crazy run of form by Manchester United has them once again sitting on the outside looking in. They are still in very decent shape, though, but with other teams now beginning to breathe down their neck, they are in a position where they really cannot afford to drop any more points if they hope to be playing in Europe next season. They are still just 3 points back of United for that crucial #5 spot and need a win here to stay with it. On the road this season, Wolves are a solid 7-6-3, scoring 23 and surrendering 17.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The previous meeting between these two teams this season ended in a 1-1 tie and I think we are looking at another tight affair here. I am going out on a limb and taking Wolves to get the win on the road.
