West Ham Vs Watford Preview & Pick

It feels as though we just got the English Premier League back, but we are now very close to the end of the season. Each team now has just 3 or 3 games remaining, which means very little time for teams to make a move if they are looking at relegation or European spots. Both of those situations are as much about money than anything else. Getting into one of the European competitions, especially the UCL, means a major boost to the bank account, while the 3 teams who get relegated down into the Championship will take a financial hit that is very often difficult to bounce back from quickly. Given the state of play at the bottom of the league, the relegation battle is one that may well go down to the wire. While West Ham and Watford have had positive results of late, neither one of them is safe at the moment, so this game is absolutely huge in terms of Premier League survival. This is sure to be a tight one, which is why it is on the board as a PK play. The bookies have the O/U set at 2.

Why bet on West Ham

David Moyes was brought back in for his second stint as manager of West Ham, and he may just be able to keep this team in the Premier League. They have had some very big results over the past couple of weeks, starting with a massive 3-2 win over Chelsea. They are also coming off a 4-0 road win against Norwich, a victory that sent the Canaries down to the Championship. West Ham are 3 points clear of the drop zone and you have to think that a win here would be enough to basically secure their place in the EPL. They have had success against Watford of late, winning 2 in a row and outscoring them 7-2, including a 3-1 road win earlier this season. At home this season, the Hammers are 5-3-9, scoring 26 and surrendering 31.

Why bet on Watford

Watford are sitting on the same number of points (34) as West Ham, but they still sit below their opponents today due to an inferior goal difference. They are -21 as opposed to the -16 record that West ham, which gives you an idea of just how important a win is for this team. They helped their own cause in their last start, coming from behind to scratch out a 2-1 win over Newcastle at home. While that win afforded them some breathing space at the bottom of the league, it was not enough to steer them totally clear of danger. Of the 34 points that Watford has picked up this season, only 10 have come from road games. Overall, they are 2-4-11 away from home, scoring 11 and giving up 31.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

A win for either of these teams basically means that survival is assured, so you would expect them both to go for it. I think that means we will see some goals, which is why I am going with the OVER. I also like West Ham to win.
