Like all other sports that have returned, it’s more than a little odd to see baseball being played in empty stadiums. This is especially true on the opening few days, when even the poorest teams in the league fill the stands with fans looking for their baseball fix. If we needed proof that this season was going to be a whole lot different than what we are used to, then we certainly got it after the opening 3 games of the season. We did not see a single sweep, which means that there are no unbeaten or winless teams in the standings at the moment. It may take a minute for every team to get up to speed under these new conditions, but you can almost bet that the good teams will eventually start to open up a gap as the 60-game season progresses. One team that is among the favorites to win it all this season is the New York Yankees, and they will try to live up to the hype when they hit the road to face the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday night as a 1 ½ run favorite.

Why bet on the New York Yankees
When you look at the New York Yankees lineup, you find it very difficult to find any weaknesses. This is a team that looks built for success, yet they had to scrap a little to come away with a series win on the road to the defending champion Washington Nationals. In fact, while the Yankees did take 2 of 3 from the Nationals, they were in fact outscored 12-9 in the series. That, though, is a little deceiving when you consider that that lot 9-2 in Game 2 of the series. Still, the bats are not as hot for the Yankees as we thought they might be, but it is tough to get too picky after just 3 games. The Yankees will have J.A. Happ on the mound on Monday night. Happ went 12-8 with a 4.91 ERA last season.
Why bet on Philadelphia Phillies
Yes, we are only 3 games into the season, but the Philadelphia Phillies already look like the team to watch if you are a fan of offensive baseball. They went down to the Miami Marlins in their opening series of the season, getting outscored 17-15 in the process. They did manage to win a game in that series, but surrendering 17 runs over 3 games is something that is sure to be a bit of a cause for concern for the Phillies. These two teams last met in 2018, with the Yankees winning the 3-game series 2-1. The games that time around did not deliver much in the way of offense, but that might be different here. Jake Arrieta (8-8, 4.64 ERA in 2019) will get the ball for this one.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
While I certainly think we will see some offense on Monday night, I’m not so sure it will be the slugfest that everyone is expecting. I am looking at the Yankees to win and cover.
