Super Bowl 55 Prop Play: Tyreek Hill Receiving Yards

Super Bowl 55 Prop Report

It didn’t take Kansas City Chiefs’ teammates Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill to know that the 2020-21 season would be impressive. It wasn’t talked about this past summer, and it wasn’t written in NFL team previews in August. Still, following Kansas City’s Week 10 bye, it became evident that the KC teammates would be challenging each other for the yardage by a receiver crown from Week 11 through Week 16.

For those that reside outside of the Kansas City market and weekend warriors that are not obsessed in a crazy-sick football way, the talent of the Chiefs top two receivers is exceptional.

Those of us that stake our reputations on and call sports analysis our profession sometimes take for granted just how skilled Kelce and Hill are. Our weekends are spent watching football, football, and when we are too tired to search for the remote or get off the couch or out of a chair, we keep it on ESPN and watch football replays.

Please ignore the following statement if you have already paid your bill to the NCAA and National Football League for the football fun they provide. For those who don’t know who or of Kelce and Hill, please read;

Super Bowl LV offers a plethora of talent. Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and All Pro’s and College Football All Americans from the Buccaneer and Chiefs is long.

What Super Bowl LV will teach those who don’t know or haven’t paid attention to is that Kansas City owns the rights to the world’s best pass-catching tight end and a track star that runs under flying pigskin completing the final stages of a quarterback passing attempt. Yes, both get paid well for their weekend work.

Don’t buy into the significant media football coverage that has broadcast the last two weeks. And if you haven’t already, remind yourself not to read the Super Bowl predictions and best proposition articles at the online football portals. And if it makes sense, then believe only half of what you read and none of your hearing. In the words of VegasCris here at WagerTalk, “don’t just believe your lying eyes.”

Tyreek Hill Receiving Yards – OVER 94.5 yards -122 / Hill UNDER 94.5 yards +100 (Fanduel)
Recommended Wager: Hill Over 94.5 yards

“[Hill is] the deadliest threat in the National Football League,” proclaimed Kelce following the Week 12 public hanging, a sacrifice if you will of a Buccaneer or five provided to you by quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the K.C. offense.

Kelce registered a total of 1,416 receiving yards in the regular season. An NFL record for a tight end and in at season’s end 140 more than Hill. “You can’t put a cap on his speed. He’s the biggest big-play threat in the game. That’s where it makes my job so much easier because he draws so much attention.”

They are the first teammates in NFL history to in a single postseason, each record 100 receiving yards in consecutive playoff games. They have accounted for 79% of the Chiefs’ receiving yards (second-highest for a Super Bowl tandem).

The Week 12 meeting between the AFC and NFC representatives in today’s NFL Championship event saw Kansas City blitz, Tom Brady, with five or more defensive players eight times across the first 14 plays.

No defensive coordinator in the history of Tom Brady has a better winning percentage against the G.O.A.T than Kansas City’s DC Steve Spagnuolo (3 wins and one loss versus Brady lifetime). Like those of us that have been N.F.L. addicts for the last quarter-century, Spags knows that to have any chance of beating Brady, you have to take him off his X, his spot, make him move outside of his comfort zone, the pocket.

The Mahomes to Hill connection in the Chiefs Week 12 victory over the Buccaneers saw Hill record 13 catches for 269 yards and three touchdowns in 15 targets. Hill had more than 200 yards in the first quarter.

The Bucs DC Todd Bowles is an aggressive play-caller. His Modum Operandi is pressure. Tampa has scored 41 of their 92 points in the postseason off seven turnovers, allowing 5.3 yards per play.

Bowles called a form of blitz rushing five or more defenders against Mahomes in Week 12 on more than forty percent of the Kansas City offensive snaps in Week 12, and the result was just one sack for the Bucs defense.

The problem isn’t that Bowles doesn’t have a talented defensive front seven; it is Mahomes and his ability to create something out of nothing. According to Next Gen Stats, Mahomes has posted a higher career passer rating (116.5) when facing 5+ pass rushers than he has against four or fewer pass rushers (109.0).
