Manchester City emerged victorious from the title-deciding match against Liverpool and kept their title hopes alive. They look like they overcome the struggles of recent weeks and have now won two in a row. They will now have a great chance to extend that streak when they will host Rotherham on Sunday for the FA Cup. Rotherham are really struggling in the Championship this season and this doesn’t look good for them at all.

Manchester City needed nothing more than a win from their home match against Liverpool on Thursday and they did exactly that. Any other result would have made it close to impossible for City to challenge the title, but they did it. Aguero took the lead at the 40th minute of that match but Liverpool pulled even at the 64th with Firmino. But Manchester City were slightly better in the second half and scored the winning goal at the 72nd minute with Sane. They are still sitting 2nd in the Premier League with 50 points, but are now just four points behind Liverpool. Manchester City have been dominant at home so far, where they have lost just twice in all competitions (13-2-0). However, they haven’t kept a single clean sheet in their last 11 matches regardless of venue, and in each of their last six at home.
On the other hand, Rotherham are coming into this match after a solid 1-2 win at home against Preston. They had already scored both goals before their opponents scored a consolation goal. Despite the good result it was the first win for Rotherham after a nine-match win-less streak (0-4-5). But they have only failed to score in two of their last ten matches and have failed to keep a single clean sheet. They are now sitting at the 21st spot of the Championship with 25 points, just three ahead of the red line. Rotherham are the only team in the league to not have won a single match on the road (0-9-4). Moreover, they have conceded multiple goals on eight of their 13 away matches so far in the season.
The two teams have only met in one season in the past, when Manchester City were playing in the Championship back at the 2001/02 season. They won by 1-2 at home before a 1-1 draw in the other match on the road.
Manchester City will be boosted by the massive win against Liverpool and will surely extend their winning streak here. There is no indication that this will not be a massive win for the home team, as Rotherham will most likely look to avoid the relegation from their league.
