Manchester United Vs Chelsea Preview & Pick

With just a couple of games remaining in the English Premier League season, there are a lot of teams who have nothing to play for. Those are the teams who are sitting in the middle of the table and already thinking about next season. There are others, though, who are going to need to go all the way down to the final game of the season to see if they can land a European spot or avoid making the drop to the Championship. It’s going to be a fun couple of rounds of football, but for 4 teams, the stresses of league play will be set aside for a little while this weekend. It is the FA Cup semi-finals that will be front and center over the next couple of days, starting on Saturday when Arsenal and Manchester City go head to head for a spot in the final. The second game comes on Sunday, with Manchester United and Chelsea set to go to war as they search for silverware this season. Why bet on the Manchester United

Since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson from the manager’s chair, Manchester United have suffered a real fall from grace and are now on their 4th manager since Ferguson left. There are signs, though, that they may have finally found their man, as Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has this team heading in the right direction. United come into this game on a run of 19 games unbeaten, delivering 14 wins and 5 ties during that stretch. While they still look to have some defensive frailties, this United team is incredibly fun to watch going forward. If they can win this one, they will be on a run of 7 straight games without defeat to Chelsea. In games played away from Old Trafford, Manchester United are 7-5-6, scoring 24 and surrendering 19.

Why bet on Chelsea

Much like United, Chelsea are in a period of transition under new boss Frank Lampard. Given that they are under a transfer ban right now, you have to admire what Lampard has done, taking Chelsea to 3rd in the league and into the FA Cup semi-final. Winning a trophy and getting into the Champions League is probably a good deal more than anyone really expected from Chelsea this season, but neither of those things are guaranteed. This will be the 4th time that Chelsea have faced Manchester United this season and they are still looking for their first win. They lost all 3 previous meetings and were outscored 8-1 in the process. Away from Stamford Bridge this season, Chelsea are 9-3-6, scoring 36 and surrendering 33.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

As we have seen in the past, anything can happen in a cup game, but you do have to give the edge to a Manchester United side that is in stunning form at the moment. I think United punch their ticket to the FA Cup Final with the win here.
