Nick Saban and his Crimson Tide take aim at Bobby Bowden and the Seminoles record of eleven straight seasons of being in the Top Five of the initial Associated Press College Football Poll. Alabama is the No. #1 team in The Associated Press preseason Top 25 for the sixth time in history and fourth time under bench boss Saban. The Tide’s streak of nine straight Top-Five preseason rankings is second only to that of Florida State, which had a run of 11 straight seasons as a Top-Five under the legendary Bowden.
Saban and his crew begin as the AP No. #1 for the second straight season with the Ohio State Buckeyes ranked second followed by the Florida State Seminoles, whom round out the Top-three.
The Tide earned 52 of 61 first-place votes from the media and 1,513 total points. Ohio State received three first-place votes and recorded 1,414 total points in the AP Top-25. No. #3 Florida State received four first place votes while on the left-coast No. #4 USC registered two first place votes from the media panel.
Alabama is the only Southeastern Conference team in the media Top-10 and according to sportsbook at South Point are overwhelming favorites to win the SEC Conference Title at minus-160.
