The featured ACC event on Wednesday night comes via the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee. Georgia Tech visits Florida State for a scheduled 7:00 p.m. ET tip that can be viewed on RSN. Free College Basketball Pick: Yellow Jackets +10 vs. Seminoles.
Florida State (-10, 142) is directly in the way of a letdown game tonight after a big win versus Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon. Freshman guard M.J. Walker scored a season-best 24 points as Florida State recorded a 91-82 victory over Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.
There are few teams that take an offensive night off like Leonard Hamilton teams. Hamilton plays three rotations and rarely does two of the three units find consistency, especially after a victory.
There are few teams in the ACC that play smarter and more physical than Josh Pastner’s Yellow Jackets. Sine Pastner and his staff have inserted Abdoulaye Gueye in the starting lineup (last seven games) the swing has started the past seven games, the forward has averaged nearly 10 points and six rebounds per game.
The Yellow Jackets are a difficult matchup for the Noles. Their already stagnant offense faces a GT squad that limits opponents to 64 points per game which ranks in the Top-25 of Division I. The Jackets have allowed 64 points or fewer in five of their last six games.
The Seminoles shot nearly 60 percent from the floor and were a unconscious 9-of-20 from 3-point range. This explosion came on the heels of the squad shooting less than 39 percent from the floor in their previous trio of events.
Florida State is largely dependent on outscoring their opponents. And this variable alone makes them suspect when facing teams that are defensively capable and play smart. The aforementioned statement is Georgia Tech in a nutshell.
In addition over 50 percent of the games between these two schools over the last 8 years, with FSU being the favorite in 70 percent of the contests, have been decided by four points or fewer.
Free College Basketball Pick is a play on GT plus-the-points.
