The Seminoles are the 8 seed for this ACC tournament, after going 9-9 in ACC play. FSU only started 1-3 in conference play, but later won seven of its last 12, including an 85-76 decision over Boston College last Saturday.
The Cardinals, meanwhile, are the 9 seed, after also going 9-9 in conference play. They started 5-1 in the ACC, but lost seven of their last 10, including a 76-69 decision at North Carolina State last Saturday.
Big-picture, while the ‘Noles are probably a little safer than the Cards, both these teams are on the bubble for the NCAA tournament.
These teams split two meetings this season, each winning on the others’ home court. Back in January Louisville won in Tallahassee 73-69, but three weeks later FSU won in Louisville 80-76.
Also, both meetings played under totals of 151 and 157.
Florida State’s been playing the better ball as of late. Also, the Seminoles won the battle on the boards in both earlier meetings.

The Wolfpack are the 5 seed for this tournament, after going 11-7 in ACC play. They were only 3-4 in conference, but later won five of their last six, including that 76-69 decision over Louisville last Saturday.
The Eagles, meanwhile, are the 12 seed. They went 7-11 in conference play, losing four of their last five games. But they opened this ACC tournament with an 87-77 victory over Georgia Tech Tuesday, covering as 3-point favorites. BC built a 20-point lead seven minutes into the second half and held on from there.
North Carolina State won the only meeting between these teams this season 82-66 in Raleigh two weeks ago. The Pack led that game by 20 late in the first half, let the Eagles get within eight late but held on for the cover at -5.
Also, that game played under a total of 158.
NC State played the better ball down the stretch, and handled BC in the previous meeting. But this might be one of those conference tournament spots where the team that played yesterday holds the edge. We’ll go with the reversal of the previous outcome here.
