Free Horse Racing Picks: Gulfstream Park for March 16, 2016:

Race 1-

3- Scam (3/1 ML) second off the claim today for the Sano barn which is bringing him back on 11 days’ rest, this gelding has run impressive and increasing speed figures in each start this year after a long layoff

6- Bold Summit (7/2 ML) making his first start for a new barn today as he was claimed off a win here on 2/25, running style says he goes to the front from the start but has a tendency to be rundown and he is going a furlong longer than usual today

4- Amberjack (6/1 ML) another entry for the Sano barn, this one finished second here two weeks ago at this level, was claimed out of that race and was back here a week later in a 30k claimer, now making his third start in 13 days but should be able to compete with this field

Race 2 –

5- Liberty Lunch (2/1 ML) finished second here last out on 2/18 and then put in a nice work on 3/10, should be ready today in her second attempt at a mile

6- Valiant Vixen (3/1 ML) making her third start off a layoff, this one drops to her lowest level yet for the Romans barn (21%)

8- Foxy Gator (4/1 ML) this filly hit the board both times she ran the mile here at Gulfstream at this level and expect her to do so again today. Jaramillo picks up the mount today and he has been riding like a man possessed

Race 3 –

1- Supplement (4/1 ML) stretching out in second career start for Kenneally (27%) this filly will have Castellano in the irons and he has two wins on three mounts for this barn in the past two weeks

4- Avalancha (3/1 ML) stretching out today for the first time, this filly hit the board in two of her past three starts against weaker competition but only one of these entries has seen this distance before

2- Diplomatic Affair (5/2 ML) class dropper is coming in off a layoff and has hit the board in all three dirt starts here at a mile

Race 4 –

7- Beaukati (2/1 ML) first start for the Walder barn (24%) this one just hasn’t been able to break out of the maiden ranks but we think that changes today with Castellano aboard

2- Let’s Be Frank (3/1 ML) comes out a disappointing debut on 2/15 at Oaklawn Park where he went off as the favorite and finished a well beaten 15 lengths back. Has had some impressive morning works and has a race under his belt now

5- Rafidain (4/1 ML) another beaten favorite (24%) here who drops to this level for the first time for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin showed some promise in January start here after a long layoff

Race 5-

8- High Heeled (4/1 ML) making her second start off a three month layoff (20%), closed well in her last race and picks up Zayas who has hit the board with 43% of his mounts the past two weeks

10- Megatoni (5/1 ML) a three-year-old who is already making her 13th career start she has run this distance six times in her short career. We will side with the experience in this one today.

6- Here’s Birdie (9/2 ML) making her second career turf start for the Zito barn (21%) we like the addition of Jaramillo who has been riding well and was able to coax some nice turf efforts out of Megatoni last fall, we think he can do the same here

Race 6-

7- Shiawassee (4/1 ML) won her debut here on 2/19 going a mile, adding Lasix today as well as Leparoux who has won with 46% of his mounts for trainer Brian Lynch recently

2- Melody Croon (5/1 ML) low percentage barn, low percentage rider, but this one was able to work out a nice trip last out with a runner-up finish and retains Vasquez today who should be able to repeat that effort

4- Cape Caroline (10/1 ML) had a win and a second here before trying stakes company last out, retains Gaffalione who has been hot this past week, should outrun her morning line odds here

Race 7-

11- Hoarder (7/2 ML) making second start off the claim for the Maker barn (35%) and making a big class drop (31%), this one is returning to the dirt where he has performed better

3- Black Phoenix (4/1 ML) another big class drop for this one, has run some nice speed figures and will have Jaramillo in the irons today

1- Giannino (10/1 ML) a third class dropper who is making his second start off a layoff, should be able to run with this crowd

Race 8-

1- Zoot Suit (3/1 ML) returns to the turf today after trying the dirt in his last two efforts (33%), comes in off a 58 day layoff but worked consistently so should be prepared today

10- Letcher (4/1 ML) making his debut today on the turf which is not normally a positive for the Lynch barn, but this one has been fast in all of his works and that might be all it takes today in this turf sprint

6- Kettles On (6/1 ML) making his first turf start today for Morley (27%) didn’t fare well in his debut at Tampa on the dirt but breeding suggests this one may take to the turf

Race 9-

2- Big N Toasty (7/2 ML) coming in off a two month layoff for Servis (23%) this one has hit the board in 7 of her 10 career starts over the Gulfstream surface

7- Oxidada (5/1 ML) the Walder barn is winning at a 26% clip in claiming races and 24% when running routes, this one is also making her second start off a layoff which should help after fading in last out

10- Dun Won (6/1 ML) this one hasn’t dun won one in a long time, but is making her second start for the Vitali barn off a claim (23%/19%), the field is pretty weak here so going with the trainer angles

Race 10-

3- Vinny White Shoes (5/2 ML) has hit the Exacta in both of his career starts here at Gulfstream with Saez up for Pletcher, only lost by a neck last out at a mile and a sixteenth so the gelding should appreciate the extra sixteenth today

2- Soul Man (12/1 ML) this one is making his first start (27%) for new connections Sharp/Ramsey and adds blinkers, hit the board in all four previous turf starts and had a nice workout on 3/11

1- Felifran (4/1 ML) was last seen here over a year ago in the Palm Beach (G3) where he was the runner-up, works have been fast and Castellano will be in the irons for Gustavo Delgado who has won 33% of his entries the past two weeks

Race 11-

12- Acknowledge (4/1 ML) if he can run close to his 83 speed figure from last out on 1/30 he should make this a two horse race

1- Giant Storm (5/2 ML) class dropper for Mott (20%), comes in off a two month layoff and gets Castellano up which should provide a good trip, maybe today is his day

11- Shan Dian Kia (5/1 ML) sleeper alert here, Loza hits with 42% of his first time starters, it is going to be tough to beat the top two in here but may be the best of the rest.

Today’s Best Bet Race 7 #11 Hoarder (7: 2-3-0, $30.70/$42.00 -$11.30)

Today’s Best Value R 10 #2 Soul Man (6: 0-1-2, $17.40/$36.00 -$18.60)
