2019 Kentucky Derby Odds
The final 2019 Kentucky Derby prep race takes center stage today at Oaklawn Park. The Grade I Arkansas Derby (G1) has rarely had the importance it has today. Of the 11 entries in the State that Clinton built not one of the colts are considered a lock to be racing in “The Run for the Roses” this May. The points awarded from today’s Oaklawn feature are special.
Omaha Beach was shipped to Arkansas via California. It is the second time that the Richard Mandella-trained colt has raced on the Oaklawn surface. Furtheremore the SuperBook of Las Vegas oddsmakers believe not only that Omaha Beach will be a part of the Kentucky Derby but one of the favorites. Westgate has the Mandella-trained colt at 7-1 odds to win the big race in May at Churchill Downs.
Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert is at Oaklawn Park this afternoon. He has positioned Improbable in the race and on a track in which he ran a close second to Long Range Toddy in the Rebel. Improbable will have a new rider. Jose Ortiz gets the mount on the 8-5 morning line favorite. Improbable will break from the rail and wear blinkers for the first time in his career.
The full field from the rail to the outside post: Improbable, Six Shooter, Omaha Beach, Tikhvin Flew, Laughing Fox, Gray Attempt, Galilean, Country House, One Flew South, Jersey Agenda, and Long Range Toddy.
