Kentucky Derby Odds Update

The “Run for the Roses” field is all in line and the most exciting minute in sports is a mere 24 hours away the horses being in the starting gate. Saturday’s 145th running of the Kentucky Derby is a Grade 1, $3 million classic stakes test. The race is contested at 1 ¼ miles at historic Churchill Downs.  Kentucky Derby Odds Update: Tacitus 6-1.

Along with fulfilled feelings and acknowledged accomplishments that come with having a horse in the Derby also come disappointments. Morning-line favorite for the May 4 Kentucky Derby, Omaha Beach, was pulled from the list of Saturday’s entrants after being diagnosed with an entrapped epiglottis. And the horses owner Rick Porter of Fox Hill Farms confirmed the diagnosis earlier this week.

Handicapping Tip for the Kentucky Derby

Since the powers-that-are made a number of changes to the qualifications required to be a part of Louisville’s ugliest hat parade and part of the post parade, this on the first Saturday in the Month of \May, the race has become quite predictable. The horses at or near the top of the Derby points leaderboard are, simply put, logical choices to win the race. Furthermore this recent trend comes in combination of the switch to the points system. As a result the best and most race-experienced colts and/or fillies not only qualify for the Derby but perform to a high standard. In conclusion the points standings and the horses at the top of the list produce logical results.  And as a result of predictability comes knowledge. In this case the Derby favorite has won the last six years running..
