The PGA Tour stays in California this week for the Genesis Invitational from Riviera Country Club. The tournament will have a star-studded field with several of the top players in attendance, with the exception of the tournament’s host: Tiger Woods. Riviera is one of the most-difficult courses on the PGA Tour for hitting greens in regulation, so accuracy from the fairways will be a key component to having success this week. The annual tradition of watching Bill Murray and Ray Romano hack their way around Pebble Beach will have to wait a year. Unfortunately, there will be no spectators or celebrities involved in this year’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, but some of the world’s best golfers will be in attendance. At the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, Patrick Cantlay has opened as the 8-to-1 favorite, followed by Daniel Berger (14/1), Paul Casey (18/1) and Will Zalatoris (18/1).

We’re just going to have to use our imagination this week. The Waste Management Open is one of the PGA Tour’s favorite stops and serves as a great Super Bowl appetizer for the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Affectionately known as The People’s Open and The Greenest and Greatest Show on Grass, TPC Scottsdale used to hold over 100,000 spectators for this tournament. If you want to feel that same energy, we’ll just have to use our imaginations a little bit as the players tee off on the famed 16th hole.

How good was Si Woo Kim at last week’s American Express from PGA West? Patrick Cantlay shot a SIXTY-ONE on Sunday and couldn’t even get in a playoff. The PGA Tour stays in California for this week’s Farmers Insurance Open from Torrey Pines. The South Course at Torrey Pines will host the US Open later this year, so there will be plenty of eyes and attention on this week’s event from San Diego.

This field for The American Express is very top heavy with about 12-15 guys all favored in the under 35-1 range, then it falls off very quickly and you can get a ton of value on guys that have been playing very well over the last few months and haven’t quite broken through but are certainly due.

Not having the US Open played during its traditional summer weekend was certainly a bummer, but not many people will be complaining when we have a major leading into Sunday Night Football this weekend. The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook has just released their updated 2020 US Open odds with Dustin Johnson as the 8-to-1 favorite, followed by Jon Rahm (+900), Justin Thomas (+1400), Rory McIlroy (+1400) and Xander Schauffele (+1400). Brooks Koepka has elected to skip this year’s tournament to address some injuries. The 2020 US Open will take place September 17-20 from Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York.
