When Rory McIlroy won The Players at TPC Sawgrass this past Sunday he took the lead in the current FedExCup standings. His victory at Sawgrass was his 15th PGA Tour and 24th worldwide victory.
McIlroy shot a final-round 70, ending his drought of 364 days since he last won a pro golf tournament. McIlroy’s last pro golf victory came on March 18, 2018 when he won the Arnold Palmer.
The victory at the TPS course in Florida was significant. McIlroy earned 600 FedExCup points, a $2.25 million payday and the newly designed Players trophy.
