Sentry Tournament of Champions H2H Matchup: Rahm vs DeChambeau

PGA Tour Head-to-Head Matchup Predictions

There aren’t many times you will find Bryson Dechambeau at plus money in a head-to-head matchup, but that is where he sits this week in the Sentry Tournament of Champions against Rahm, currently around +120.

I don’t have to go into the fact the Dechambeau hits it a country mile. Everyone knows that. But most people aren’t aware just how good of a putter he is, too. He ranked No. 10 on Tour last year in Strokes Gained Putting and during his win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in July, he became the first player since they started tracking Strokes Gained data, to lead the field in strokes gained in both driving and putting in the same event.

In three starts this year, he won the US Open, finished T8 at Shriners and T34 at The Masters and currently ranks No. 1 in Strokes Gained Off the Tee, No. 1 Tee-to-Green and No. 1 Total Strokes Gained.

Kapalua has huge wide fairways so no worries for Bryson to swing and miss, and besides his advantage of Par 5’s, it’s more about the 11 par 4’s this week where he should have a lot of wedges in his hands to attack.

For Rahm, I don’t have any bad numbers to throw at you as he has been fantastic as well, but he did just change his irons over the break and even for the best in the world, it does take a little time to adjust. Rory is a good example of somebody who struggled with the change two seasons ago and while I’m not suggesting Rahm is going to completely fall off here, I just think it could be one little factor to give Bryson a nice edge over him, especially considering his plus-money price.
