Tiger Woods 2019 Props
Tiger is back. The former world No. 1 and current No. 13 is on the TPS Sawgrass course taking part in this weekend’s Player Championship. Woods told the Golf Network that the neck strain that kept him from playing last week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational is no longer causing him pain. Furthermore his practice round on Tuesday offered evidence of such.
Woods publicly announced on Monday that his recent treatment for a neck strain had not improved enough to take part in the tour event. Tiger reiterated that he hoped he would be ready for the Players.
Tiger won last year’s Tour Championship for his 80th PGA Tour title. He competed 18 times on the PGA circuit last season and played in the Ryder Cup as well.
Woods has officially teed off three times in 2019 taking part in the Farmers Insurance Open, Genesis Open and WGC-Mexico Championship. He missed a scheduled tournament for the first time since returning last year from spinal fusion surgery, and said it was more to make sure a growing problem that started last month in Los Angeles did not get worse.
Woods is the only player in this week’s Players Championship field who has won the event. Tiger’s win at the event was in March (2001) and May (2013). Adam Scott is the only other player in the field to win in March (2004), as the event has shifted back to this time of year after being played 12 straight years in May.
For the first two rounds, Woods is grouped with defending champion Webb Simpson and Masters champion Patrick Reed. They tee off at 1:27 p.m. Thursday.
