US Open Championship Odds at Pebble Beach
After a dominating performance by Brooks Koepka in the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black this weekend global sportsbooks were aided in posting opening odds for the mid-June U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. Following his showing at the PGA Championship in New York Koepka is the consensus bookmaker favorite at Pebble Beach Golf Links in next month’s U.S. Open.
PGA Champ Koepka favorite at Pebble Beach
Koepka won his fourth career major and his second straight PGA Championship with a Sunday final round 74. The defending PGA Championship Koepka earned the 2019 PGA title with a two stroke victory over second-place finisher Dustin Johnson. Koepka checks in with 5-1 odds to earn a second straight Major and U.S. Open title at the World’s Largest Race and Sportsbook, Westgate of Las Vegas.
Koepka was expected to be one of the favorites for the June 13th-16th event on the shores of Carmel, California. Wiring the PGA Championship field made the sportsbook managers job easy. Public perception is virtually everything when setting future odds and outside of Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson there is no more popular golfer heading into the Pebble Beach event than Koepka.
Bethpage Black runner-up, Johnson, pressed Koepka on Sunday’s back-nine. A 70 on Saturday and a 74 Sunday allowed Johnson to pick up five stroke on Koepka following Friday night’s cut.
Tiger missed the cut at the PGA Championship this past weekend. All things being equal the 43-old Woods presents the large influx of public money for golf’s third Major but at 12-1 offers little to no value as a tournament investment.
