Two Western Conference teams sitting on opposite sides of the conference and the league table are clashing, when the Dallas Mavericks (21-45), looking to extend a rare small winning streak, are hosting the conference leaders Houston Rockets (51-14), who saw the biggest winning streak in the league getting snapped and are looking to bounce back.  Houston Rockets vs Dallas Mavericks Spread and Prediction.

Date/Time:  03-11-2018, 18:00 EDT

Spread: Dallas Mavericks +9

Total: +213

Mavericks have a 21-45 record (34-31-1 against the spread) so far this season. Dallas currently sits in third to last place of the Western Conference overall standings. They have back-to-back wins and in their last game they won at home against the Grizzlies with a 114-80 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring Harrison Barnes with 18.5 ppg. Barnes adds a team high 6.5 rebounds per game. He is followed by the rookie Dennis Smith Jr with 15 ppg, 3.9 rpg and a team high 5 assists per game, while Wesley Matthews adds 12.7 ppg.

Rockets have a 51-14 record (34-30-1 against the spread) so far this season. And Houston currently sits atop the overall Western Conference standings. In their last game they saw a seventeen-game winning streak getting snapped by losing on the road against the Raptors with a 105-108 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by James Harden with a league-best 31.1 ppg. Harden adds 5.1 rebounds and a team high 8.8 assists per game. He is followed by Chris Paul with 18.7 ppg, adding 5.5 rebounds and 8 assists per game, while Eric Gordon adds 18.5 ppg.

Rockets have won all three previous meetings against the Mavericks this season and last game in Dallas ended with a 97-104 score. Mavericks are 14-21 at home so far this season. The Rockets are 26-8 on the road. The Rockets are better offensively, scoring a second-best 113.9 ppg to Mavs’ 102.6, while Mavericks are slightly better defensively, allowing 104.8 ppg to Rockets’ 105.2. Houston is a better field goal percentage, shooting with 46.36% to Mavs’ 44.65%, while both teams have almost identical 3-point percentage (36.62% and 36.58%). Rockets are better in rebounding (43.3 to 40.9), while Mavericks are better in assists made (22.6 to 21.7). Rockets are the absolute favorite and are looking for a bounce-back win that will keep them on top of the league. Vegas odds give them a -9 spread and expect them to beat those odds today.
