The Lakers are still alive to climb out of the play-in portion of the postseason, but it’s still a bit of a longshot. LA must win both its remaining games (this one vs. Indy and tomorrow in New Orleans) and hope Portland loses Sunday at home vs. Denver to pass the Blazers, who hold the tiebreaker. Indiana is in the playoff and is tied with Charlotte, depending on the final results, one of those teams will visit Boston and the other gets Washington. The first game between these two went to the Lakers, 105-100, back on March 12 at the Staples Center when LA F Kyle Kuzma had 24 pts. (15 in the crucial 4th Q that night) and LeBron James had a ho-hum 15 pts., & 10 dimes. For Indy, G Malcolm Brogdon scored 29 pts., 7 rebs. & 6 assists while PF Domantas Sabonis flirted with a triple-double (20/14/8). This time around the Pacers aren’t in good shape, with both Brogdon and G Caris LeVert held out of Thursday’s game against Milwaukee, and this time around Indiana pivot Myles Turner isn’t available as well. LA slowly getting healthy, as Dennis Schroder is off his quarantine and expected to play, while LeBron James is a definite possibility, and Anthony Davis is iffy but not out (DNP Wednesday vs. Houston due to a slight groin issue).
