Wisconsin Badgers vs Miami Hurricanes Predictions

The No. 11 ranked Miami Hurricanes welcome the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon to the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. Miami enters this contest undefeated at 4-0, and is trying to regain some of that swagger from those great teams from the 1990s that regularly fought for a national title. Georgia Tech has rebounded from an opening season loss to win their last three games, and would love no more than to see themselves knock off the undefeated Hurricanes.

The Yellow Jackets entered this game 4-0 against the spread this season and are 5-0 against the spread dating back to last season. They are 4-1 against the spread on the road over there last five games but are 1-7 against the spread in their last eight games against Miami. In the last five games on the road in Miami, Georgia Tech is 1-4 against the spread. In the last six games between these two teams, the total has gone under in four of those contests when playing in Miami, however, the total has been over in four of the last five games between these two teams. Moneyline: Miami -220; Georgia Tech +190

Totals: Over/Under 52.0 (-110)

After a disappointing one-point loss to start the season, this Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets team has gotten on a roll. They have dominated their last three opponents, winning by a combined score of 103-34.

It has been the defense that has really stepped up their game, who are allowing 260 yards of total offense per game. This is not a group putting up huge numbers, however, recording just 10 sacks, four interceptions, and a fumble recovery through the first four games of the season. The leading sack master on the team is Antonio Simmons, who has three, while Brant Mitchell leads the team in tackles with 19. A.J. Gray leads the team interceptions with two and also has a sack and a fumble recovery.

This is a really efficient Georgia Tech offense, led by quarterback TaQuon Marshall, who is thrown for only 333 yards this season but has rushed for 523. He has four touchdown passes through the air and nine on the ground, and really has been an impressive young man in controlling this offense. Well, 333 yards passing may not seem like many, and it’s not, the truth is that this is not a team that needs to throw much. Marshall has just 33 pass attempts the season, while Tech has run 268 rushing plays the season.

KirVonte Benson has rushed for 476 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 5.7 yards per carry. Combined with Marshall, these to make an impressive combination and they are going to need to have a great game to keep this Miami offense off the field.

The Miami Hurricanes are coming off of a big victory over Florida State last week, 24-20. The Hurricanes defense is also an exceptional one, allowing 17.2 points per game. Miami has recorded 15 sacks this season, led by Trent Harris who has 3.5. They have also recorded four interceptions and three fumble recoveries.

Malik Rosier leads the Miami offense. The quarterback is thrown for 1074 yards and 11 touchdowns while gaining 126 yards on the ground and two more touchdowns. His numbers are not eye-popping, but the number that really stands out is out he’s a winner. His team and the coaching staff have the ultimate confidence in him, and even if the stats aren’t glamorous he earns to win.

Mark Walton is the leading ground gainer for the Hurricanes, rushing for 428 yards and three touchdowns. He’s the perfect kind of running back for this offense.

Yellow Jackets vs. Hurricanes Betting Lines

While Georgia Tech has an outstanding football team, they do not measure up to Miami. The Hurricanes are playing extremely well this season, especially at home. A point spread such as 6.5 is not much, primarily because Miami will likely win this game by at least 10 points. However, expect this to be a lower scoring game, something like 27-17. Take Miami to cover the spread and the under.

My Pick:Miami -6.5 (-108)

Totals:Under 52.0 (-110)
