Minnesota Timberwolves vs Los Angeles Clippers Spread and Prediction

Two Western Conference teams with high playoff hopes but both struggling lately are clashing, when the Los Angeles Clippers (8-14), are hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves (14-11), with both teams looking to bounce back after losses in their latest matchups.

Date/Time:  12-06-2017, 22:30 EDT

Spread: Los Angeles Clippers +5.5

Total: +212.5

Clippers have an 8-14 record (9-13 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit on the 10th place of the West. They have three consecutive losses and in their last game they lost on the road against Minnesota with a 106-112 score, beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Blake Griffin with 23.6 ppg, adding 7.9 rebounds per game but he is out with an injury. He is followed by Lou Williams with 18.9 ppg, while Austin Rivers adds 14.3 ppg.

Timberwolves have a 14-11 record (10-13-2 against the spread) so far this season and currently sit on the 5th place of the West. They are unable to find a rhythm the last couple of weeks by not winning or losing a second consecutive game. In their last game they lost on the road against Memphis with a 92-95 score, not beating the odds. They are led in scoring by Karl-Anthony Towns with 19.8 ppg and a team high 11.6 rebounds per game. He is followed by Jimmy Butler with 18.9 ppg, 5.3 rpg and 4.6 assists, while Andrew Wiggins adds 18.6 ppg.

In their previous meeting earlier this season, Wolves won at home with a 112-106 score. Clippers are 4-6 at home so far this season, while Wolves are 6-7 on the road. Wolves are better both offensively, scoring 107.3 ppg to Clippers’ 104.9, and defensively, allowing 106.8 ppg to Clippers’ 107.5. Wolves have better percentages both in field goals, shooting with 46.7% to Clippers’ 45.3% and in 3-pointers, shooting with 36.2% to Clippers’ 35.7%. Clippers on the other hand are better in rebounding, grabbing 42.9 to Wolves’ 42, while Wolves are better in assists made, with 22.6 to Clippers’ third-worse of 20.3 and commit less turnovers (13.9 to 15.6). Wolves might be the favorite for the win but they have been very inconsistent lately. Vegas odds give them a -5.5 spread but don’t expect them to beat the odds as Clippers will force a closer game than that.
