LA Dodgers at LA Angels Preview & Pick

With the MLB season now a few weeks old, it is tough to know what to make of all that has happened to this point. While some teams are getting close to having played about one-third of their 60-game season, you have others, specifically the St. Louis Cardinals, who are being left behind. The early going od the new season proved to be a bit of an unmitigated disaster, with positive coronavirus tests popping up all over the place. We are still seeing the impact of that a couple of weeks later, with games and series still being suspended or postponed. There are a lot of games that will need to be made up between now and the end of the season, and it is going to be interesting to see how the league figures that out. In the meantime, we need to focus on the games that are being played, which includes an LA rivalry game on Friday night. While the Dodgers have been the more successful of the two teams, it is the Angels who seem to have their number.  The Dodgers are favored by 1 ½, with the run total set at 9.

Why bet on the LA Dodgers

This was always going to be a bit of an uncertain season, but one thing that we all believed would hold true was that the LA Dodgers would dominate the NL West. That, though, is not happening, as it is the Colorado Rockies who find themselves on top. The Dodgers, who are sitting at 13-7 are in a tie with the Rockies, but they have played a couple more games and have a slightly inferior win percentage. It seems odd to say, but they may well be pleased to get out on the road, where they are 7-2 on the season. The downside is that they are actually 1-5 SU in their last 6 meetings with the Angels. They are, though, 4-1 SU in their last 5 versus teams from the AL. Clayton Kershaw (1-1, 3.60 ERA) will get the start.

Why bet on the LA Angels

The LA Angels prepared for the new season knowing that Mike Trout might decide to opt out. While he eventually decided to play, he did end up missing some time to be with his wife after she gave birth to a daughter. Trout has been on fire since returning, hitting 7 home runs in 9 games, but the Angels are still 6 games adrift in the AL West with a 7-12 record. This is a team that needed something good to happen, and they somewhat got that by beating the Oakland A’s in a 3-game series heading into this one. As good as they have been against the Dodgers, they are just 1-4 SU in their last 5 games against NL teams. Patrick Sandoval (0-1, 2.70 ERA) will start for the Angels.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The recent record between these two suggests that the Angels might spring the upset, but I think that it’s the UNDER that is the better way to go here. I think it might be close, so consider taking the Angels to cover.
