Odds to Win MLB MVP Awards

The recent signing of Bryce Harper by the Philadelphia Phillies makes the team’s lineup one of the better offenses in all of baseball,  arguably the best on the Senior Circuit. By all indicators Harper will hit third in the Phillies lineup and play his typical right field defensively. And the projected protection that Harper receives in hitter-friendly Citizens Bank Park looks favorable for the former Washington National. Odds to Win MLB MVP Awards: Harper 6-1.

The following Las Vegas SuperBook NL MVP Futures Odds were positioned before Harper signed his free agent deal at the close of last week’s business. Harper checked in at 6-1 odds. And where Harper will hit in the Phillies lineup is everything but official but skipper Gabe Kapler told the local media “Bryce would hit third, fourth for us, most likely. But we’ve seen in the past that he can hit anywhere at the top of a lineup.”

Philadelphia Phillies 2019 Projected Lineup

1) Cesar Hernandez (S), 2B
2) Andrew McCutchen (R), LF
3) Bryce Harper (L), RF
4) Rhys Hoskins (R), 1B
5) J.T. Realmuto (R), C
6) Jean Segura (R), SS
7) Maikel Franco (R), 3B
8) Odubel Herrera (L), CF

Hitting third in the order places Harper likely between Andrew McCutchen and young slugger Rhys Hoskins. McCutchen’s ability to register a high contact rate makes him a near perfect bat for the No. 2 slot. Hoskins is a traditional No. 4. The 25-year-old hit 34 home runs in his first full season in 2018.
