Westgate 2019 MLB Playoff Props
Opening Day of the 2019 season saw all 30 teams register an official win or loss. Back home from an 0-2 trip to Japan, the new-look Oakland Athletics earned their first win of the season with a 4-0 shutout of the Los Angeles Angels. Reigning homer run champion Khris Davis went yard. The A’s slugger went deep for the second time this season.
The Angels went all-in on All-Star and MVP Mike Trout this offseason. Trout signed a $426.5 million, 12-year contract. New skipper Brad Ausmus lost his Angels debut after taking over for Mike Scioscia. Trout singled and walked going 1 for 3. There was a slight scare for Angel faithful. Trout was looked at by the Halo’s training staff in the eighth after he made a hard slide into second injuring his right leg.
”Then I put a pad on it and had a little bit of compression on my calf and my calf cramped up a little bit,” Trout said. ”That’s what scared me. But it’s all good. Other than that I have a strawberry, that’s it.”
The ageless Albert Pujols went 0 for 3 with a strikeout as he began his 19th season. Pujols has 633 homers and is back at 39 after season-ending left knee surgery in August and a right elbow procedure in September to remove bone spurs.
The Angels are semi-long shots to make the 2019 postseason. They will challenge a talent-rich Houston Astros club this season and in reality are +300 at Westgate to be one of the two wild card qualifiers, not division winner.
