Montreal Impact met a really heavy loss on the road against NYCFC on Tuesday, and saw their wild winning streak come to an end. They will now have a great chance to bounce back, as they are hosting San Jose on Saturday. The Quakes have only won a single match since the opener, and have easily been one of the worst teams in the MLS. Montreal should be ready to come back to winning ways here.

Spread: San Jose Earthquakes +0.75

Total: 3 Goals

Montreal Impact (8-12-0) are coming into this match after a really frustrating 0-3 loss on the road against NYCFC. The match did not look good from the first half, where Montreal were clearly struggling to create scoring chances. They did manage to keep a clean sheet until the hour mark, but eventually fell apart and conceded three goals. That loss put an end ot their four-match winning streak, as Montreal are still without a draw. They are clinging inside the playoff spots, still sitting at the 6th spot with 24 points. Montreal have been pretty good at home so far (6-3-0), where they have won each of their last four. Moreover, they have conceded just a single goal in that span.

On the other hand, San Jose (2-10-6) did not have a very easy time in Portland last week. Their opponents were really pushing at the first half, and took the lead at the 14th minute. San Jose were already down by two goals when they scored a consolation goal towards the end of the match for the final 1-2. They are still without a win in their last ten matches (0-6-4), and have won just once since the premiere. Needless to say, San Jose are still stuck at the bottom of the Western Conference with 12 points. They have been as bad on the road (1-6-3), but have only failed to score twice.

There is a very important statistic about this match-up, that there hasn’t ever been a visitors’ win (4-0-2). It is Montreal Impact who have the upper hand in this match-up over the years (3-1-2), and have won all three as hosts.

San Jose are having one of the worst seasons in their history, and it’s all the defense’s fault. Montreal also had severe defensive issues earlier in the season, and they might pop up again soon. I will back Montreal to cover the spread and return to winning ways here.
