NYCFC prevailed in the New York Derby against the Red Bulls and extended their dominance at home. They will now look for their second consecutive win in over three months when they will host Montreal on Wednesday. Montreal are coming into this match in the best form they’ve been all season. They are on a wild winning streak but extending it will not be that easy.

Date/Time: 7-11-2018, 19:00 EDT

Spread: NYCFC -1

Total: 3 Goals

NYCFC (10-4-4) played a really balanced match against the Red Bulls on Sunday, but managed to come out winners. They were slightly better in the first half, but despite recording 10 scoring chances they only had a single shot on target. The Red Bulls were improved at the second half, but it was NYCFC who scored the winning goal at the 85th minute with Moralez. NYCFC are now back at the 2nd spot of the Eastern Conference with 34 points, six behind Atlanta United. Their home record improved to 8-0-1, still having conceded just 4 goals so far.

On the other hand, Montreal Impact (8-11-0) are running wild lately, as they are currently on a four-match winning streak. In their last match they won much easier than the final 1-2 score suggests. They totally dominated Colorado, who were lucky enough to score a late consolation goal. Montreal have now climbed inside the playoff spots, sitting at the 6th spot with 24 points. They will surely want to improve their away record, as they have a pathetic 2-8-0. Prior to their win in Orlando, Montreal had lost six in a row on the road, conceding an average of 2.6 goals per match.

NYCFC have had the upper hand in this match-up over the years (4-1-2), and haven’t lost any of the last four. Results in this venue have been more balanced for the two teams (1-1-2), with Montreal scoring at least once in all matches.

This is a very interesting clash, with Montreal trying to extend their streak and NYCFC defending their home ground. This match can go either way, but it is worth noting that Montreal haven’t had a single draw so far. A draw here wouldn’t hurt anybody, so it’s really possible they can settle. In any case, I expect Montreal to cover the spread here.
